What is a good engagement rate for an influencer?
A good influencer engagement rate is roughly 1–3% for larger accounts and 3–8%+ for nano- and micro-influencers, who typically engage their audiences far more deeply. Engagement rate (interactions divided by followers or reach) is a better signal of real influence than follower count — and unusually low engagement on a big account flags fake followers.
Engagement rate varies by platform and audience size, but the pattern is consistent: smaller creators post higher rates because their audiences are tighter and more trusting. Treat benchmarks as a filter — what matters is genuine, on-topic engagement (specific comments, not emoji spam), which predicts how well a recommendation will convert.
When vetting creators, low engagement relative to follower count is a red flag for purchased followers; healthy, relevant engagement is a green light. It's one of the first numbers to check before any partnership.
